"Grief is the recognition that we have to surrender to the past something we wish were in the present and future. When we find balance we can stop grieving because then we will lose no more. We keep grieving until we can do that." - Rikkity

Grief Guidance
Elissa Bishop-Becker, M.Ed., LPC, NCC

Licensed Professional Counselor, Psychotherapist, and Workshop Facilitator
Co-Founder and President, Center for Transformative Counseling, Inc.

Elissa Bishop-Becker has a Master's of Education degree in Community Counseling, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. She is a member of the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). Her specialization is in issues of grief, loss, and transition for both adolescents and adults. Her experience includes counseling for bereavement, addictions, and sexual abuse in hospice, college, and community settings.

She has been transformed by and recovered from many losses, including the deaths of her daughter and father, and has developed a framework for the grief process that expands on current theories. That framework, Transformative Bereavement, has helped many people heal and move forward into meaningful living. She has recently completed a book manuscript on her theory.

Ms. Bishop-Becker is also a medium and channel, and has been channeling her daughter in spirit, Rikkity, since her death in 1995. She is the co-founder of Spiritual Persistence, a "sister "site of Spirit Space. Her highly developed spiritual sensitivity combined with her professional training give her a unique ability to help her clients move forward and heal through their grief process.

Loss is an end, but it can also be a beginning; it is a crisis, but it can also be an opportunity for learning and growth.
